Adamson softbelles begin title-retention bid without ace hurler


Will Adamson University still be a force to reckon with sans its top hurdler this year? This will be the big question that the Lady Falcons will have to answer starting Saturday in the 72nd UAAP softball tournament at the University of Santo Tomas open field.

The Lady Falcons begin their quest to repeat as champs against De La Salle University in the opener of a three-game bill at 9 a.m. Softball followers will be very eager to see how the Lady Falcons will go about their title-retention bid despite losing last year’s Most Valuable Player and Best Pitcher Cloine Muyco to graduation. Making its Season 72 debut at 11 a.m. is University of Santo Tomas, which will be led by last year’s most awarded player Ana Pagbuhusan (Rookie of the Year, Best Slugger and Most RBIs), against Ateneo. Season 70 champion University of the Philippines battles neighbor Ateneo de Manila in the main game at 1 p.m. Over at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center, action in lawn tennis starts simultaneously at 9 a.m. following a brief and simple opening rites at 8:30 a.m. University of Santo Tomas faces University of the East while University of the Philippines tangles with Ateneo in the 9 a.m. opener. Hostilities in the women’s division follow at 12 noon with reigning champion University of Santo Tomas tangling with University of the Philippines and De La Salle University battling archrival Ateneo de Manila. - GMANews.TV
