UST volleybelles get back at 1st-round conqueror Ateneo

Ma. Angeli Tabaquero flashed her winning form, scoring 16 hits, two service aces and a block to lead University of Santo Tomas to a vengeful 25-17, 23-25, 25-11, 25-20 win over Ateneo Sunday in the 72nd UAAP volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan. The victory pushed the Tigresses to solo second place with a 6-2 win-loss slate behind defending champion De La Salle, which carries an immaculate 8-0 card.

The Lady Eagles, on the other end, slipped to 5-3 in a tie for third to fourth spots with the Adamson Lady Falcons. “This is sweet revenge for us kasi tinalo nila kami nung first round," said UST coach Cesael delos Santos, referring to the Tigresses’ sorry five-set loss to the Lady Eagles last Dec. 19. “At para sa amin, talagang importante bawat panalo ngayong second round."
