Lions, Blazers remain unscathed in NCAA men's table tennis

San Beda College and College of Saint Benilde fashioned out similar victories against respective opponents in the men’s division of the 85th NCAA table tennis tournament Thursday at the Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Gym. The Kurt De Guzman-coached Red Lions slammed the Letran Knights and the Arellano U Chiefs in a pair of 3-0 results while the Blazers smashed the Jose Rizal U Bombers and the Mapua Cardinals with the same result to remain undefeated in top of the standings with similar 4-0 slates.

In women’s action, reigning champions Lady Blazers and the Lady Knights of Letran lead the pack with identical 3-0 cards. The Lady Blazers, led by last year’s most valuable player Ayra Malabayabas scored consecutive 3-0 wins over San Sebastian and JRU. Not far behind is San Beda after a 3-0 decision over EAC for its second win in three games to occupy solo third place. The Red Cubs blanked the Light Bombers, 3-0, to strengthen their grip of the top spot in the junior’s division with a 3-0 mark.
San Beda is also leading the football competitions with the Red Lions and Red Cubs posting similar easy wins over their foes at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City. The Lions of Aries Caslib ripped the Arellano Baby Chiefs, 3-1, for their fourth straight win while the Cubs routed the Mapua Red Robins, 3-0. – GMANews.TV
