JRU ends Champions League at 3rd place

The Jose Rizal University Bombers banked on Floyd Dedicatoria's four points down the stretch to earn a 76-72 win over the Mapua Cardinals and finish third in the 4th Collegiate Champions League at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum Sunday afternoon. The Bombers were ahead after the third quarter, 66-47, but the Cardinals kept JRU to six points at the start of the last period until the end to erase the double-figure lead at 72-68. It was at this point that Dedicatoria attacked Mapua's defense and knocked in four straight points to ensure the victory for the Bombers who also bagged the a scholarship grant worth P100,000. "I just told the boys to end the tournament on a positive note by salvaging at least third place," JRU mentor Ariel Vanguardia said. Dedicatoria finished with 10 points to support the 15-marker game of John Wilson, 12 of Jason Nocum and 11 each of Marc Cagoco and Mark Louie Pradas. Raymund Tiongco's 18-point production went to naught for the Cardinals, who had a better shooting performance at 46 percent on a 31 of 67 clip.
