Wrestler Batista may live in RP and do movies

Filipino-Greek wrestler David Michael Bautista, more popularly known in the wrestling world as the Batista, is not discounting the possibility of permanently staying here in the Philippines for good and make movies here after his pro-wrestling career. During the press conference to promote the two-day World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Smackdown Survivor Series Tour at the Araneta Coliseum from Oct. 21 and 22, Batista told Filipino journalists he is interested in getting dual citizenship so he could live here. "That’s one of the options I’m thinking about, especially after my career in the world of professional wrestling," the 36-year-old Batista told reporters at a press briefing held at the Cinema 9 of the Gateway Cinemaplex in Cubao, Quezon City. "The people here in Manila have been so warm and friendly that’s why the possibility of having a permanent residency here is really in my mind," he said. He's also considering a career in movies, following the likes of Hulk Hogan, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Triple-H, and current WWE Champion John Cena, all of whom made it big in the movies after having a stellar career in the squared circle. "I’m very open to that also, especially after I retire from pro-wrestling," said the former night club bouncer, a native of Washington, DC. "Who knows, given the right time and the right script, I may make a movie here also." Batista was amazed at warm reception of the local fans. "This is the warmest reception I’ve gotten so far," he said. "I’ve been around the world and nothing can compare to how the Filipino fans accepted me and the rest of the superstars. The thrill of the crowd is what gets me going. I’m very proud of my heritage, and once I step inside the ring, I’ll be representing all Filipinos with pride." Batista also explained the reason behind the merged Filipino and Greek flags tattooed on his left forearm. "I had the tattoo done around a couple of months before I came back to the WWE right after my surgery because I want everyone to know who I really am and where I came from," he said. Also on hand during at the press conference to drum up support for the two-day show were fellow Smackdown superstars King Booker, currently the WWE World Heavyweight champion; his beautiful wife Queen Sharmell; and the sultry WWE diva Michelle McCool. All three agreed that the reception they received from Filipino wresting fans since their arrival in Manila early last Thursday was quite unbelievable and amazing. King Booker, the most decorated wrestler in the industry with 36 titles to his name, had this to say: "I have been around the world as a wrestler performing for thousands of people, but the reception I have received from the Filipino fans is quite extraordinary. Everywhere I go, people kept following me to ask for my autograph or to just greet me in person. The experience here is really amazing." "This is my first time to travel overseas and I must say that the experience here has quite blown me off," McCool said. It was the second time this year that the WWE, which is owned by its chairman Vincent Kennedy Mcmohan, to perform in front of thousands of Filipino wrestling fans the first being the "Raw Live In Manila" tour last Feb. 24 and 25. That two-day show featured the likes of Raw wrestling superstars Triple-H, John Cena, "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Mick Foley, Edge, Lita and the Big Show. Last Saturday and Sunday’s matches featured the likes of Batista, King Booker, Queen Sharmell, Michelle McCool, The Undertaker, United States champion Chris Benoit, Chavo Guerrero, Finlay, William Regal, Bobbly Lashley, Ken Kennedy, WWE tag team champion Brian Kendrick and Paul London, Vito, The Miz, the tag team duo of KC James, and Idol Stevens and the Little Bastard. - GMANews.TV
