Batang Llamados advance to PBA Summer League semis

Aljun Melecio scored all of Batang B-Meg Derby Ace-Caloocan’s 32 points in the first quarter as the Batang Llamados clobbered Batang Air21-Taytay to clinch the last semifinal berth in the Coca-Cola Batang PBA Summer League Wednesday at the old San Juan Gymnasium. The Batang Llamados won their third straight game to end the single-round elimination with a 3-1 record for second place in Group A. They will face Group B topnotcher Batang Coca-Cola-Marikina in Friday’s crossover semifinal. Two-time defending champion Batang Talk ‘N Text-Quezon City will test Batang Rain or Shine-San Juan’s mettle in the other semifinal. The winners of Friday’s encounter will face each other in a knockout Finals on Sunday. Melecio eventually finished with 39 while Patrick Cagara scored 16 of his 18 points in the second quarter as the Batang Derby Ace stretched an eight-point lead to a 58-30 halftime spread. The Batang Llamados were never threatened after that. Albert Bordeos scored 28 points for Batang Air21, which finished its campaign with a 2-2 mark. Batang Ginebra-Cainta dumped Batang Sta.
