UST turns from Growling to Kettle Korn Tigers

After winning the UAAP cage trophy the UST Growling Tigers will sport another title : The team coached by Alfredo "Pido" Jarencio will be known as the Kettle Korn Tigers and will campaign in the PBL Silver Cup which starts on Nov. 11 at the San Juan Arena. Team owner Joey Concepcion and team manager Elmer Yanga are well aware that the Tigers will be campaigning on a bigger arena against a much better team. Because of this, Concepcion and Yanga are focusing on a quarterfinal finish. "We don't expect much from them, but I know them very well. They have big fighting hearts," said Yanga. "If we can advance to the quarters, then that's good for us." But with Jarencio on the bench, everyone can count on another surprise, just like what happened in the UAAP where the Tigers were not even considered as championship material. But they conqurered the favorite Ateneo Blue Eagles and turned the unbelievers into fanatic followers. And Jarencio believes that with hard work, they can do the same in the PBL. "Kailangang magtrabaho kami kung hindi ay walang mangyayari sa amin... Doon din naman ang punta nila kaya dapat ay maging handa sila," said Jarencio. UAAP finals MVP Jojo Duncil will again lead the team composed of UST stars Anthony Espiritu, Dylan Ababou, Jun Dizon, Mark Canlas, Japs Cuan, Jun Cortez, and Francis Allera. To strenghten the team, former UST players Warren de Guzman and Derrick Hubalde were enlisted to bring in the needed experience to what is considered a very young squad. - GMANews.TV
