Rosales town is next stop of age group chess tourney
Rosales, Pangasinan will host the second leg of the Philippine Academy for Chess Excellence-National Chess Academy (PACE-NCA) 2011 age-group chess championship on March 12-13 at the SM City Entertainment Center. The tournament is a project by PACE, under president and Grandmaster Jayson Gonzales, in cooperation with the NCA and the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP). The two-day event is part of a 12-leg series of qualifying tournament to determine the member of the Philippine team to the 2011 Singapore Youth Chess Festival on December 25 to 31. Gonzales, who is also the NCFP director for grassroots development, said the tournament is open to all youth players (boys' and girls') where they will be divided into the Under-17; Under-14; Under-11 and Under-8 age divisions. The top five finishers in each age category will advance to the grand finals on October 24 to 28 in Manila where they will compete against other leg qualifiers.
