The UP team composed of Thumbie Remigio, Danny Dematera, Emman Rodil, Xtian Guerrero, Peng Manlapaz, Jake Taleon, Gax Ylanan, Makoy Almanzor, Rhona Agtay, Cherry Sy, Lyra Deitrich, Lei Mangubat and Dara Redulla bested the local bets in the game similar to American football where each team looks to advance into the end zone to score points. Team Flying Pancakes of Manila edged Disc Bandits of Subic, 13-12, to cop the novice division gold medal of the event organized by Zambales Gov. Hermogenes "Jun" Ebdane and chaired by provincial administrator Jun "Omar" Ebdane. In the wall climbing competition, Reynaldo Borile (open boys), Milky Mae Tejares (open and speed girls) and Hubert Kristian Guerrero (boys speed) won the âOver the Top" in their respective categories. Triathlete Kim Mangrobang posted her second win in this multi-sports event by ruling the women's division of the open-water swimming event. The 19-year-old Mangrobang clocked 38 minutes and 33 seconds in the two-kilometer route Saturday afternoon from Dawal Beach and back via a u-turn at nearby Potipot Island dubbed as the "Boracay of Zambales." Mangrobang actually bested three other male contenders in the 12-man field. "Target ko talaga mas marami akong boys na matalo para maganda ang result," said Mangrobang, who had earlier captured the duathlon race Saturday morning covering a five-kilometer trail run, 30-kilometer bike and 2.5-kilometer run. "Sobrang maalon papunta ng Potipot pero na-mamanage ko naman," said Mangrobang, who studies Fashion Design at the School of Fashion in Makati City. Canadian Matt O'Halloran topped the men's race with a time of 32:50. The 25-year-old O'Halloran from Quebec intends to be naturalized to become a member of the national triathlon team in time for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. "I just wanted to stack up the competitors, not start fast and see who's there so that I won't wear down," said O'Halloran, who has a Filipina girlfriend. Philip Jurolan checked in at the finish line at 34:45, followed by Jeff Laguito, who clocked 36:25, nearly four minutes behind O'Halloran. Hometown bet Racleo Lemque finished fourth in the men's race with a time of 59:29. - KY, RCJ, Reuben Terrado, GMA News
