Unson grabs 1-stroke lead in Jungolf summer tourney

Andrea Unson scored her second straight three-over-par 75 to grab a one-stroke lead against Sarah Jane Ababa in the second round of the ICTSI-Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines Summer Circuit at the Sherwood Hills Golf Club in Trece Martirez, Cavite Wednesday. Unson took off with back-to-back birdies but was set back with bogeys on the third and eighth. She did not fare well in the second nine to end with a 36-hole aggregate of 150, one ahead from Ababa, who built together 39-37 for 76 in the girls' Class A division. "It was not a good final half. It's still anybody's game," Unson said. Maan Legaspi remains in third with a 162 after an 84, while Sheryl Villacencio was fourth (78-164) in the second leg of the circuit. Korean Sun Choi (74-147) reduced Mia Legaspi's advantage (76-148) to setup an exciting final 18 in the girls' Class C. Kenneth Kano improved to a 75 for 156 and a five-shot lead against Korean Park Kyu-Ha's 80-161 in the boys' Class A division. Paolo Uy (79) and Aris Mata (78) were tied at third on 162s. Jorge Catalan submitted an 81 for 164. Gabriel Manotoc (76-157) and Dan Cruz (80-165) were leaders in the boys' Class B and C divisions, respectively. - Adrian Flores, JVP, GMA News
