PSC orders PHL softball squads to train at Rizal Memorial stadium
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), as part of its cost-cutting measure, has ordered the menâs and womenâs national teams to transfer their training venue from the Rosario Sports Complex in Pasig City to the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium in Manila. Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) board member Randy Dizer said that the move was a board resolution passed by the PSC. âThe PSC is saving money that is why we are transferring," said Dizer. Dizer added the PSC has been paying the Pasig City government for the use of the Rosario Sports Complex. The PSC has also ordered ASAPHIL to transfer its office from Rosario to the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC) and for the national teamsâ housing from PhilSports to RMSC. Dizer said that the move is favorable because the national teams will be closer to the Philippine Center for Sports Medicine (PCSM) where they have been doing their conditioning training. âThe menâs team is still in the conditioning stage while the womenâs team are already preparing for international tournaments," said Dizer. The PHL Blu Girls will be competing in the Asian Womenâs Softball Championships in September. The Blu Boys and Blu Girls are also preparing for the 2011 Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia. â Reuben Terrado/JVP, GMA News
