THE Philippine School of Business Administration Jaguars banked on the free throws of Lester Mendoza, Robert Manguerra and TJ Zayas to turn back PATTS College of Aeronautics Thursday, 88-84, in the 14 th National Capital Region Athletic Association men's basketball tournament. Mendoza scored two of the game's last five charities with 1:13 left, allowing the Jaguars to stay ahead with an 85-82 edge and ensure their second triumph in seven games. Mendoza's charities came after a split by James Abugan enabled the Sea Horses to threaten at 82-83. More points from the charity lane from Manguerra and Zayas kept the Jaguars out of trouble in the last 21 seconds when PATTS got into foul trouble. RK Cui showed the way for the Sea Horses with 36 points while Abugan had 29 points. In the junior division, the Arellano Baby Chiefs, coached by Jonjie Ablan, outplayed Olivarez High School, 77-65, to notch their third straight win. Isaiah Ciriacruz unloaded 21 points for the Baby Chiefs, while Richard Ga and Jim Yonzon had 13 each. Leonardo Anquillo contributed 12. Adriel de Leon scored on a layup with 2:32 left as the Baby Chief's shattered the game's last deadlock of 63-all. A pair of charities and a drive from Ciriacuz with 1:39 left allowed the Baby Chiefs to keep their distance, 69-63. - GMANews.TV
