Pinoy bet runner-up in Asian Karting Open in Macau
Fifteen-year-old Franco Reyes led the Philippines' strong showing in the finals of the recently concluded 2011 Macau International Kart Grand Prix and the Asian Karting Open Championships (AKOC). Reyes was the runner-up at the AKOC at the Kartrodomo De Coloane in Macau, the Department of Foreign Affairs said. "Reyes led the Philippine pack by winning runner-up honors in the Formula 125 Junior Open of the (AKOC) and third overall in the series, which was participated in by 20 kart racers from seven different countries," it said. Estefano Rivera, another Pinoy bet, caught the attention of the organizers by finishing fourth in the Asia-Pacific KF3 Championship dominated by Denmark, Hong Kong and Japan. Six other Filipinos participated in the international racing event, including: Rivera's brother Milo, Jette Calderon, Xedrei Daquigan, Carl Pollington, Roberto Domingo and Archim Lorenz Lagman. The Macau International Kart Grand Prix incorporating the Asian Karting Open Championships is an annual event organized by the Automobile General Association Macau-China (AAMC), and supported by the Macau Sport Development Board and the Macau Tourist Office. — JVP, GMA News
