UST, La Salle jump-start 3-peat bids in UAAP tennis

University of Santo Tomas and La Salle begin their respective bids to win a third straight title in the 74th UAAP tennis tournament on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.  
The Tigers, winners of 14 UAAP men’s tennis crowns—including seven of the last 10 seasons which was broken only by the Green Archers—take the court right in the first match at 9 a.m. against a National University side that has been rebuilding the last two years.
Also on tap in the men's contest are matches between Ateneo and University of the Philippines also at 9 a.m. and La Salle and University of the East (UE) at noon. Also at noon, the Lady Eagles will be up against the Lady Maroons.
On Sunday (January 8), the 9 a.m. matches will have UP taking on NU while UE battles UST. La Salle faces Ateneo at noon.  
Also at noon Sunday (January 8), De La Salle seeks to jumpstart its bid for a third-straight women’s crown when it squares off with UST. The Lady Archers clinched five of the last 10 titles, the other half going to the equally-favored Tigresses. — JVP, GMA News
