FTW: Barako's run brings Junel Baculi new-found fame
With the Barako Bull Energy's upset over the Talk n' Text Tropang Texters in game one of their semifinals series, more and more are expected to be curious about the storybook run of one of the lesser-known teams in the PBA.
Part of Barako's charm comes from the fact that its success stems from their veterans. In a previous report, GMA News Online highlighted how the top six locals with the most playing time have an average age of 34 years old for Barako, five years older than Talk n' Text's top six who have an average age of 29.
But behind every good team is an even better coach. And in this episode of FTW, Mico Halili, Jason Webb, Magoo Marjon and Charles Tiu talk about Barako Head Coach Junel Baculi.
"He's probably the least well known coach in this semifinals cast," claimed Mico.
Jason highlighted Baculi's achievements, including his numerous championships in the PBL and in the NCAA. He also added that the former Mapua Cardinal had dabbled in broadcasting in the past as a commentator for PBA radio.
When asked to describe how Baculi is on the air, Magoo said, "He's one of the guys who can really break down a game. Pinapasimplify niya to explain to people." - Renee Fopalan / AMD, GMA News
