Pacquiao leads Pinoy cockers in world derby
Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao will lead Filipino cockfight breeders against a throng of foreign competitors when the NCA World Championship 8-Cock Derby reels off Tuesday at the Pasay City Cockpit. A statement from event organizers released Monday said among the foreign cockfight champions participating are: Americans Joe Wolcott, Dan Gray, Larry Whitehead, Tom Cooper, Jeff Hudspeth, Eddie Odell, Rey Morrison, Aster Lopez, Damon Yorkman, Andy Robertson, Jimbo Cocks, Richard Borries, Jim Batiea, Steven Cox, O.W. Lanier, Richard Lanier, Henry Navarro, Arci Coloma, Jason Campbell, Freddie R., Bryan Cochran, Bruce Barnette and Crow Grave. Wolcott of Alabama, won the recent Sunset Recreation Club 8-cock derby in Louisiana, USA. Other foreigners taking part are from Canada and Japan. Apart from Pacquiao, other Filipino competitors include Rep. Ignacio “Iggy" Arroyo, Rep. Gerry “Boy" Espina Jr, Patrick Antonio, Cavite 7-cock International Derby champions Richard Bates and Rizal Gov. Casimiro Ynares, presidential assistant Narciso “Jun" Santiago, Boy Jiao, Boy Jalandoni, Boy Velez, Iloilo Mayor Jesri Palmares, among others. Pacquiao won the 2006 NCA World Championship held also at the Pasay City cockpit. The two-cock semis will be held Thursday while the four-cock finals is scheduled Saturday. - GMANews.TV
