Golf: US Women's Amateur tees off in Ohio with five Filipina bets

Five Philippine bets from the ICTSI-The Country Club squad open their respective bids to become only the second Filipina to win in the US Women’s Amateur Golf Championship at The Country Club in Cleveland, Ohio starting Tuesday.                  Filipina-American Dorothy Delasin, who now plays in the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), did it in 1999 at the Biltmore Forest Country Club in Asheville, North Carolina.                  Dottie Ardina is first off the tee on the 8:20 a.m. flight with first-time qualifier Natalie Gleadall of Canada and University of Arkansas freshman Maria Gabriela Lopez of Mexico.                  Ten minutes later, it will be reigning Hong Kong Am champion Jayvie Agojo’s turn.  She’ll play with Alison Lee of California, winner of the Annika Invitational, and Harin Lee, a sophomore of St. John’s University, of New York.                  US-based Cyna Marie Rodriguez of the University of Southern California is in the 1:50 p.m. pairing alongside Ariel Tidwell of Texas and Erynne Lee of Washington.                  “The girls are raring to go,” said national coach Bong Lopez. - AMD, GMA News
