UAAP: UE, UST post wins in Men's Volleyball

 

The University of the East Men's Volleyball team battled from being down 2-1, winning the fourth and fifth sets to defeat the University of the Philippines, 13-25 25-22 18-25 25-21 15-10, on Sunday at the Arena in San Juan.

 

Angelo Torres and Homer Lauresta each scored 17 points to give UE the win. At 13-10 in the fifth set, Lauresta went for the kill for match point, as Ralph Pradel went for a block against the UP attack to secure the victory.

 

It was an all-around effort for the Maroons on Sunday, as Sam Paquiz' 19 were almost matched by Dominico Lucindo and Jeff Lansangan's 18 and 16 points.

 

In the second game, De La Salle University only managed to win one set as the University of Santo Tomas posted a 25-16 22-15 25-17 25-23 win.

 

Mark Alfafara and team captain Salvador Depante chipped in 20 and 19, respectively. Tied ad 23-all in the fourth, kills from Depante and John David Subiere sealed the win for the Tigers. - RAF, GMA News
