Cardona is PBA Player of the Week
For the second straight week, Mark Cardona of Talk N Text was chosen as the PBA Player of the Week, according to a press statement released by the league on Monday. The honor went to Cardona for the period covering January 21-28 after he sank a three-point shot with 1.1 second left, giving the Phone Pals a 99-96 win in Game 2 of their semifinals series against Barangay Ginebra on Friday, January 26. Because of the victory, the Pals were able to tie the best-of-seven series to 1-all. The Gin King gained the upperhand in the series following a 115-110 win in the opener last Wednesday when Cardona was limited to four points. But in Game 2, Cardona posted 21 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a blocked shot. Then in Game 3 last Sunday, Cardona scored 18 points to help the Phone Pals post a 109-100 victory over the Gin Kings and give Talk N Text a 3-1 lead in the semis faceoff. Cardona is a product of De La Salle University. He opted not to play in his last year with the Archers and entered the 2005 PBA Draft wherein Air 21 made him the seventh overall pick. But Cardona and Anthony Washington was sent by the Express to Talk N TExt after the Draft. - GMANews.TV
