2 PBA teams eyeing 'Jawo' as head coach
Here's good news for Big J's fans: Two PBA ball clubs are reportedly interested in getting Robert Jaworski Sr as coach. The "Living Legend" was said to be discussing his return to the league as head coach of the Air 21 Express or the Talk N Text Phone Pals. According to insiders, Jaworski is considering the offer for his return to the PBA because he might have given up trying to get reelected. Jaworski is also being considered as executive director of the Basketball Association of the Philippines-Samahang Basketbolista ng Pilipinas (PBA-SBP), the newly formed unity group. When he was still a PBA coach, Jaworski won four championships in the league, the last of which was during the 1997 Commissioner's Cup when he led Gordon's Gin to a 4-2 victory over Alaska Milk. Jaworski won his first PBA title as a playing coach in the 1986 Open Conference when his Ginebra beat Manila Beer in the Finals, 4-1. After this, he mentored the Añejo Rum to a 3-1 win over Purefoods in the 1988 All-Filipino Conference. But the most memorable championship for Jaworksi was in 1991's First Conference when the Gin Kings came back from a 1-3 deficit against Shell Remulla-X to win the crown. Jaworski will be 61 years old on March 8. He played for 24 seasons in the PBA. All in all, he played in 958 games, averaging 12.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and a steal. He was chosen as Most Valuable Player in 1978 and was included in the Mythical Team six times. - GMANews.TV
