Ampon's Davis Cup record

No Filipino tennis player has yet broken the record set by Felicisimo Ampon (1920-1998) at the Davis Cup, which aficionados consider the Olympics of tennis. The diminutive player — who stood at around 5'-0" — holds the record of having the most total wins of all Filipinos who have played in the event since the country joined in 1921. Of the 75 games he played for the Philippine team, he won 40 and lost 26. He also chalked up the most singles games won at 34 (with 26 losses). The most doubles win, however, was set by Johnny Arcilla and Raymundo Deyro, who also happens to hold the record for most ties played at 37 and the most years played at 17.
