100 points in a single game

According to the official NBA website (www.nba.com), nobody has broken the record set by Wilt Chamberlain for being the only player to make 100 points in a single NBA game. Chamberlain was then playing for Philadelphia Warriors (which later became the 76ers), and the historic game, against the New York Knicks, happened at the then Hershey Sports Arena in Pennsylvania, on March 2, 1962. Philadelphia won the game, 169-147. Actually, Chamberlain made seven other records that evening, including scoring the most points in a half (59), most field goals made (36), and most field goals attempted (63). The 100-point game is all the more amazing when you consider that the three-point shot was not yet in effect then. No video footage of the game exists, because it was not televised. But there's an audio recording of the radio broadcast. The game was witnessed by an audience of 4,124. For more details, visit the NBA website at www.nba.com. - GMANews.TV
