Two early Finals-aspiring teams will look to keep building up their resumes, when the National University Bulldogs take on the PCCL titlists and Season 75 runners-up University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers, Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

NU (1-1) is looking to recover from a heartbreaking loss against the team that dethroned them in the FilOil preseason tourney, as UE Red Warrior Roi Sumang's four-point play proved to be the difference in their 71-67 game.

With Alfred Aroga officially ruled as ineligible, due to having not completed his residency, the Bulldogs leaned on center Emmanuel Mbe, and the big man logged 18 points and 11 rebounds as a result. However, they were still killed on the offensive glass, 27-15, by the Red Warriors. Bobby Ray Parks and Jelo Alolino were the team's next-best rebounders with seven apiece, but it's imperative that other guys like Troy Rosario, Glenn Khobuntin, and Denice Villamor (seven rebounds combined) do their part as well.

UST (2-0) on the other hand was in the reverse position, as clutch conversions by Jeric Teng and Aljon Mariano lifted them to a 67-62 win last weekend. After a quiet first game, Kevin Ferrer exploded for a team-high 17 points, along with four rebounds and four blocks, giving him a boost heading into a likely match-up against Bobby Ray Parks.

However, for the Tigers to win, they'll need Karim Abdul to at least play Emmanuel Mbe to a draw. Abdul had just six points and missed 11 shots, while tallying a mere three rebounds, versus Adamson's Ingrid Sewa. UST got out-rebounded 52-39 against the Falcons, and so they'll need to do a better job on the glass this time out.

Game starts at 4pm.
