The Adamson University Soaring Falcons will look to down their avian rivals Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles and keep the defending champions winless in Season 76, when they clash head-to-head on Sunday at the MOA Arena.
The Adamson Falcons (2-1) built a huge lead against the UE Red Warriors, in their last game Wednesday, but they conceded a 26-10 fourth quarter to make things close, before finally pulling away, 78-71.
Versus a foul-stricken Charles Mammie, Adamson was able to get an 18-12 advantage in offensive rebounds, for a 13-4 edge in second-chance points. The likes of Ingrid Sewa and Rodney Brondial will no doubt be looking to dominate the glass anew, this time against a weak Ateneo front court that saw their two centers, Frank Golla and JP Erram, foul out versus DLSU, with zero rebounds to boot.
On the other hand, Ateneo is crossing their fingers that Kiefer Ravena is back at 100 percent, after playing just eight minutes in their season opener, and missing their next two games. Ravena normed 21.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.4 steals in the FilOil preseason tournament, helping his side to a 7-1 record, and he could give his side a much-needed jolt of energy, after they struggled to close out FEU and arch-rivals La Salle.
Bringing back Ravena will also hopefully help the Eagles get easier shots, as most teams would usually opt to double-team him, opening things up for his fellow players. The Eagles are currently the worst-shooting team in the league, making just a shade under a third of their attempts, 33.2 percent. It might also result in someone like Ryan Buenafe or Juami Tiongson being moved to the bench, giving their second-unit some pop, as it currently norms just 13.0 points, also worst in the UAAP.
Game starts at 4pm.
