Pacquiao sponsors first boxing event in Manila


Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao has sponsored billiards competitions, managed a caging team and has even won in his own cockfight event. On Saturday, his first ever boxing event under the Manny Pacquiao Promotions will be held at the Rajah Sulayman Park in Manila's Malate district. According to a press statement released Thursday by the MP Productions, the Pacman Mano Mano - Rambulan sa Sulayman will run from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and will feature the Philippine's WBA No. 3 mini-flyweight contender and IBF No. 4 flyweight fighter Eriberto "Yukka" Gejon Jr going against visiting Saensak Singmanasak of Thailand. The 10 rounder will serve as the main bout in the event that is also bringing the face-off between female boxers Gretchen Abaniel, the world's 20th WIBA contender; and Banina Londo, ranked 30th in the world. In the supporting event, Apol Suico of Cebu will face Danny Lerio of Riuzal in a superflyweight match while Boggide Delada of Cebu will fight Danilo Pena of Manila in the flyweight category. Six preliminary bouts will serve as appetizer in the event with Gedion Amba (Cebu) facing Armando Casa (Laguna), Roel Laguna (Cebu) going against Mervin Batolina, Vicente Palicte (Manila) matching against Marc Polgahe (Manila), Joel Rafols (Manila) versus Roel Lagonera (Rizal) Darryl Pucdot (Cebu) against Rockey Batol Bataol (Manila) and Anthony Marcial (Manila) fighting Micahel Anas (Manila).
