UAAP: FEU forges men’s football Finals series with UP after edging DLSU

League-leaders Far Eastern University shook off De La Salle University 2-1 at the FEU Diliman field on Thursday, to enter the UAAP men's football Finals for the first time since winning the title in 2010.

FEU striker Jesus Melizza weaved between between DLSU's Greg Yang and Matthew Nierras to fire past the keeper from close range in the 54th minute, celebrating his goal with a somersault.

DLSU equalized after four minutes with a long-range shot from Carl Amisola, but fresh substitute Dexter Chio put his team back on top with his own strike beyond the box in the 76th minute.

The Morayta XI could have gone up 1-0 by the 50th minute, but Eric Giganto's chest-to-volley strike was deemed offsided.

Far Eastern University will face University of the Philippines in the finals, after the Maroons earlier dispatched UST 5-1. - Roehl Niño Bautista / AMD, GMA News
