V-League: Davao Lady Aguilas get winning debut vs Lady Tamaraws

Province-based team Davao Lady Aguilas shrugged off a third set loss to beat the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, 25-20 25-19 20-25 25-22, Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Arena, in their Shakey’s V-League Season 11 1st Conference debut.

With the defeat, the Lady Tamaraws drop to a 2-3 card in Group B.

May Shiel Agton gained Player of the Game honors with 15 attack points all coming from spikes. Team captain Venus Flores managed 14 markers, Princess Joy Oliveros contributed to the Lady Aguilas’ offense with 11 points, while Angel Mae Antipuesto added 10.  

Bernadette Pons led the scoring for the Morayta-based squad with 12 points.

The Lady Aguilas out-scored FEU 50-45 in spikes and 8-2 in service aces.

Davao won despite superior non-scoring numbers. They led 43-39 in digs, 54-30 in sets and 32-20 in receptions. - BR, GMA News
