V-League: Lady Bulldogs draw first blood, outpower Tigresses in semis series opener

The National University Lady Bulldogs leaned on their old reliables to post a 25-20 25-23 22-25 25-22 victory against the University of Santo Tomas Lady Tigresses in game one of their best-of-three Shakey's V-League Season 11-1st conference semifinals series, held Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Arena.
NU team captain and former UST High School standout Dindin Santiago led her team with 19 points coming off 13 attacks and three service aces. Younger sister Jaja Santiago posted 14 points, including five blocks. Myla Pablo also had 14 points, while Mina Aganon chipped in 13 markers.
UST team captain Pam Lastimosa led the Tigresses with 20 markers, while guest player EJ Laure chipped in 16. Aside from Jessey De Leon's 11 points, no other UST player scored in double figures.
The Tigresses barely edged NU in attack points, 55-53, but the Lady Bulldogs took it back in the blocking and service department. NU had 15 blocks to UST's 10, while registering seven aces to UST's two. - Renee Fopalan / AMD, GMA News
