UAAP: Ravena scores 22 as Eagles feast on Falcons

 

The Ateneo Blue Eagles feasted on the Adamson Falcons, 79-57, Sunday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

 

Keifer Ravena led his team with 22 points, while Chris Newsome and Arvin Tolentino chipped in 12 each.

 

The Eagles got off to a great start, forcing turnovers while finding their way in the paint.Chris Newsome and Keifer Ravena connected on drives, before Von Pessumal hit a trey. Ateneo led 24-11 after one.

 

It was Arvin TOlentino's time to shine in the second, as he hit from inside and out. Back to back treys from the rookie put Ateneo up 23, 38-15, before Clin Doliguez converted thanks to a Ravena feed. Adamson stayed alive thanks to freethrows and makes from Ivan Villanueva, as the Eagles punctuated the half woth a Ravena slam, 47-20.

 

The Falcons improved in the third, as Jansen Rios and Don Trollano hit from beyond the arc. Adamson connected to put points on the board from the stripe, but Newsome and Pessumal strung four points to keep the distance, 58-32, with 2:30 remaining. Four points from Ravena closed out the third, as the Eagles enjoyed a 62-35 advantage.

 

Ateneo continued to abuse the Falcon interior defense in the fourth, as Newsome and Gwynne Capacio scored in the paint. A Nico Elorde basket made it a 29-point game at the 5:21 mark, 72-53, before Villanueva hit a three. Dawn Ochea and Rios had some success from the stripe, as Anton Asistio knocked down a triple before the Eagles ran down the clock. - GMA News
