UAAP: Kiefer Ravena leads MVP race after first round

Kiefer Ravena's 38-point haul in Ateneo's game last Sunday against University of the East catapulted him far ahead in the Most Valuable Player race after the first round of the UAAP men's basketball tournament.
The Ateneo guard scored 161 points in seven games, averaging 23 points per game. Ravena also finished with 36 rebounds, 36 assists, 10 steals, and one block for a total of 80 statistical points (SP).
Far Eastern University's Mac Belo is second to Ravena in scoring with 116 points, but dropped to fourth place with a total SP of of 57.71. His 38 rebounds were eclipsed by second and third placers Jeron Teng and Chris Newsome, who grabbed 51 and 54 boards, respectively.
Karim Abdul of University of Santo Tomas came in fifth with a total SP of 56.17, registering 82 points, 51 rebounds, 13 assists, three steals, and eight blocks.
The league's third-leading scorer with 114 points, FEU's Mike Tolomia (55.14 SP) ranked seventh in SP.
In sixth place is National University's Alfred Aroga (55.42 SP, 73 points), while Ateneo rookie Arvin Tolentino (53.42 SP, 85 points) came in eighth.
NU's Jeth Rosario (53.29 SP, 79 points) and La Salle's Jason Perkins (50 SP, 75 points) complete the top ten. — JST, GMA News
