Stop Talking wins Philracom Imported Series II

Stop Talking, ridden by veteran jockey Jessie Guce, scored a surprised victory Sunday in the P.8 million Philracom Imported Series II at Santa Ana Park. It was Stop Talking's, a product of Real Quiet from Dynastar, fifth win in 14 runs inside the Philippine Racing Club, Inc's turf, giving his connections led by horse owner Franchino Pamintuan the top prize of P480,000. Only the third choice among five runners, Stop Talking posted a time of 1:40 flat (24', 24, 24' and 27) and even posted a three-horse length advantage over second placer Empire King at the finish line. Before this race, Stop Talking could only muster a 1:42 in the same distance with a 55-kilo handicap last March 25. On Sunday, Stop Talking ran with a 53-kilo handicap. The victory likewise showed the talent of Guce, who was replaced by jockey Louie Balboa to ride third placer Real Spicy. Balboa took over as Real Spicy's rider after Real Spicy lost to Empire King during the Commissioner's Cup last March 18. The defeat for Real Spicy, the 2006 Horse of the Year, is cause for alarm for horse owner Hermie Esguerra. Empire King gave P220,000 to his connection while Real Spicy produced P100,000 for Esguerra farm. - GMANews.TV
