Pacquiao wants early training for Bobby
Manny Pacquiao wants renowned trainer Freddie Roach to train his brother Bobby for his June 9 face off with Humberto Soto. Philboxing.com in an article posted Sunday said Pacquiao himself phoned Roach and asked the trainer to immediately start the training as early as Monday. Roach, who is likewise training legendary Bernard Hopkins for a July fight versus Winky Wright, is currently considered one of the best trainers in the world. In his last press interview, Bobby said that he was inspired by his older brother Manny Pacquiao's latest victory in Texas against Jorge Solis and decided to fly early to the United States to start his training and assure himself and his supporters that his bitter experience against Hector Velasquez will forever be erased. Bobby, who lost his WBC Continental Americas crown to Velasquez after he failed the scales being three pounds heavier than the allowable weight limit, flew three weeks ago to the United States. Bobby said that he intends to discipline himself and control his eating habits to ensure that he can control his weight. Bobby turned pro in 1997. He defeated Carlos Navarro on June 17, 2005 to gain the World Boxing Council Continental Americas super featherweight title. Several months later, he won over former titlist Carlos Hernandez and the following year added former world featherweight titlist Kevin Kelly to his victims. But Bobby's career went down after he failed to meet the required weight in his fight against Velasquez. - GMANews.TV
