RP's Orcollo, Corteza, Manalo win matches in World 10-Ball


Filipino cue masters Dennis "Robocop" Orcollo, Lee Van "The Slayer" Corteza and Marlon Manalo who won their initial matches in the Predator World 10-Ball Championships Thursday night (Friday morning in the Philippines) in Bankshot Billiards Hall in Jacksonville, Florida in the United States. Orcollo, who last week won the enjoypool.com tournament in Las Vegas, easily defeated Richard Jones, 10-3, in the second round after earning a first-round bye, to arrange a matach with Darren Appleton of England. Appleton, currently the no. 1 British shotmaker, won over neil Fujiwara of Japan, 10-4, and Luc Salvas of Canada, 10-9, to reach the third round, according to results posted on azbilliards.com Corteza, on the other hand bested Spanish Carlos Cabello, 10-8, in his opening round before following that win with a 10-7 triumph over Thorsten Hohmann of Germany, 10-7. Corteza's next opponent is Ignacio Chavez, who strung a 10-5 victory over Raul Hebles of Spain and 1-4 win over Evgeny Stalev of Russia. Manalo, meanwhile , subjected Ryah Farah of the United States to a 10-2 defeat to meet Marcus Chamat of Sweden in the third round. - GMANews.TV
