UAAP adopts new caging rule
A new rule will be adopted in the basketball tournament when the 70th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) starts on July 7 at the Araneta Coliseum. A total of 15 players will now be allowed to play from the previous 14 cagers, giving each team depth and new recruits experience, the league said Wednesday in a statement. Meanwhile, defending champion University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers take an opening day bye, leaving the La Salle Green Archers to debut against the University of the Philippines Maroons at 2 p.m. National University, which has improved tremendously with its core seeing action in the commercial Philippine Basketball League, and traditional power Far Eastern University Tamaraws clash in the only other game scheduled at 4 p.m. Most of the games will be played at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila, with the Growling Tigers to debut there on Sunday against the formidable University of the East Red Warriors at 6 p.m. - GMANews.TV
