EAC Generals joins MBL Open basketball tournament

Emilio Aguinaldo College, one of the most successful collegiate teams in the country, will bring its act to the coming Manila Basketball League (MBL) Open basketball tournament which starts on Thursday at the Lyceum Gym in Intramuros, Manila. The league said in a statement on Tuesday that multi-titled coach Nomar Isla will call the shots for the Generals, who are hoping to add the MBL title to their vast collection, which include title triumphs in the University Games in 2006 and the Universities Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA) from 2004-206. The Generals also represented Manila in the Sister City Basketball meet held in Jakarta, Indonesia, last month. Sista-Henkel mainstay Jester Ebuen and Nikko Hubalde will spearhead the Generals' bid in this one-and-half-month long tournament. Also seeing action for the Roni Albao-managed Generals are Fill-German Marvin Greabel, Indonesian behemoth Isman Thoyib, and sweet-shooting Bong Melocoton. Aside from the Generals, also participating are UCM-Ocean Fresh (Bonnie Tan), Wang's Ballclub (Buboy Rodriguez/Alex Wang), 3 T Corporation (Johnny Cutaran/Joesedev Colina), Rusty Lopez (Daniel Espaldon/Gil Flororita), Asian College of Science and Technology (Ricky Alcantara), and Anne's Pride (Vic Lazaro/Franklin Abadies). Past MBL champions were Manuel L. Quezon University-Boysen, Wang's Ballclub, and Harbour Centre. Games will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at the Lyceum gym and Saturday at the EAC Sports Center. The tournament is supported by Wildman Sandals and Slippers, Big Boy Restaurant, and Boulevard Mansion. - GMANews.TV
