Roach not worried over delayed arrival of Pacquiao in US
American trainer Freddie Roach, the top man at the Wild Card gym, is not worried, at least not yet, that his celebrated ward and Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao has yet to fly back to Los Angeles to begin his training. "He is supposed to be here on the 4th if he gets any later than that then I will start to worry. We have seven weeks if he comes on the 4th so we'll be okay," Roach was quoted PhilBoxing.com as saying. But whether Pacquiao will travel to Los Angeles and arrive there on Aug. 4 is uncertain. GMANews.TV learned on Wednesday that Pacquiao, who is set to face Marco Antonio Barrera on October 6 for a rematch, has decided not to leave Wednesday night to begin his training. Reports said that Pacquiao has booked a Philippine Airlines first class flight to the United States but rescheduled it because other members of his team - trainers Buboy Fernandez and Nonoy Neri, and lawyer Geng Gacal - cannot join him for failing to rebook their tickets. The earliest flight the Pacquiao team can book is Aug. 8 for business class and Aug. 16 for economy class. Even before Pacquiao could focus on his training, his fans have already bought tickets which are for sale for $600, $400, $300, $200 and $100, as reported by www.eastsideboxing.com on Monday (Tuesday in the Philippines). Roach believes that Barrera will not be an easy picking for the Filipino boxer. The trainer even added that Barrera can make it difficult for Pacquiao. Aside from his training, the promotion of Pacquiao's fight has been affected. Pacquiao's hesitation to leave for the United States gave Top Rank top man Bob Arum no other way but to reset the press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel last week. Pacquiao has insisted that he is staying fit by regularly playing basketball and running. But other reports stated that Pacquiao is busy with "extra curricular activities" like the filming of his movie with sexy star Ara Mina. The move is slated for showing during the Holidays this December. - GMANews.TV
