First boxer to beat Pacquiao tagged in slay of driver

A former boxer who holds the distinction of being the only fighter to beat Filipino boxing champ Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao is now being tracked down for allegedly killing a garbage-truck driver. Radio dzBB reported Tuesday that the Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section has started a manhunt for Rustico Torrecampo, who was tagged in the killing. Sketchy initial reports indicated Torrecampo did not even use his fists – he allegedly used a bladed weapon to knife dead a garbage truck driver initially identified only as Ongkit. The victim, a driver for Manila city garbage contractor Leonel, died before doctors at the Tondo General Hospital could treat his injuries. It remained unclear what caused Torrecampo, who turned 35 last Aug. 1, to attack the victim. Torrecampo has not stepped into the ring since 1997. According to posted online records, the Torrecampo-Pacquiao match was held on Feb. 9, 1996 in Mandaluyong City. Pacquiao, according to some of the reports, was unprepared and was knocked out by Torrecampo in the third round. It was Pacquiao's 12th pro bout and it was his first knockout loss. - GMANews.TV
