Sepak Takraw gets first SEAG 2017 medal for PHL


The Philippine Sepak Takraw team bagged the country's first medal on Wednesday in the Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) 2017 after finishing second in the men's chinlone event 3 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

According to the SEAG website (kualalumpur2017.com.my), the Philippine team, composed of John Jeffery Morcillos, John Bobier, Rhemwil Catana, Ronsited Gabayeron, Joeart Jumawan, and Alvin Pangan, scored 271 in the linking event.

 

 

Host country Malaysia bagged the gold with 391 points in the linking event, while Brunei settled for third with 157 points.

Philippine team coach Metodio Aleta Jr. said the team did its best and it was a "great accomplishment" to play against Malaysia. 

The SEAG will officially open on August 19 and will run until August 30. — BAP, GMA News
