Pacquiao, Barrera make 130 lbs

Last-minute efforts to lose one extra pound proved fruitful for Emmanuel “Manny" Pacquiao. The Filipino boxing icon made the 130-lb weight limit for his Sunday match with Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera. Radio dzBB on Saturday reported that Pacquiao, 28, and Barrera, 33, both weighed in at 130 pounds during their weigh-in in Las Vegas on the eve of their match. QTV-11 reported in its noontime newscast that before making the weight limit, Pacquiao resorted to shadowboxing, rope-skipping, and wrapping himself in thick blankets. After making the weight limit at the weigh-in, Pacquiao prayed then feasted on tinola (a chicken soup dish with green papayas, chili leaves or malunggay or leaves of horseradish tree), meat and fruits, while Barrera gulped a bottle of rehydration drink. In November 2003, Pacquiao knocked out Barrera during the 11th round of their match in San Antonio, Texas. Barrera known as the "Baby Face Assassin," vowed to avenge his defeat in his upcoming fight against "Pacman, the Destroyer." - GMANews.TV
