DepEd: Occidental Mindoro, Negros Occidental to host next 2 ‘Palarong Pambansa’

The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that Occidental Mindoro will host the Palarong Pambansa in 2020.

The province of Negros Occidental, meanwhile, will be the host of the Palarong Pambansa in 2021, the DepEd said.

The decision came after members of the Palaro Board, led by DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones, made a thorough review on the bids and discussed the reports on technical inspection for Occidental Mindoro, Negros Occidental, and other areas such as Capiz, Marikina City and Puerto Princesa City.

According to the DepEd, the hosting of the Palarong Pambansa is determined by bidding and guided by the principle of the Luzon-Visayas-Luzon-Mindanao cycle.

Members of the Palaro Board evaluate the bids based on sports venues, billeting area as well as consideration for the peace and order or conducive conduct of the Palaro, the opportunity to promote the locality’s socio-economic and cultural uniqueness and capability of the local government to upgrade sports facilities.
