PSBA Jaguars, PATTS Sea Horses beat NCRAA rivals
The Philippine School of Business Administration (PSBA) Jaguars and the PATTS School of Aeronautics Sea Horses won their games on Monday in the 15th Smart-National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) men's basketball tournament. Jaguars vs Merlions, 103-94 The Philip Cezar-coached Jaguars needed an extra period to fend off City Colleges of Manila Merlions, 103-94. Vic Manuel fired a career-high 48 points as he helped push the Jaguars to a share of second spot with the Philippine Merchant Marine School Mariners with their fourth win in five matches. This is the Jaguars' best start in 10 years since winnning the crown in the NCRAA's fifth season. Manuel shot nine points during the extra period, including seven free throws which shattered an 88-all deadlock. His heroics gave the Jaguars a 100-96 advantage with 30 seconds left. Sea Horses vs Sea Lions, 88-83 The Sea Horses leaned on the heroics of two hotshots to put away the Olivarez College Sea Lions, 88-83. James Abugan hit 26 points for the Sea Horses, who notched their fourth triumph in six outings, while RK Cui and Jayvee Ferreria had 17 and 14 points, respectively. The Sea Horses are now tied in third position with the Asian College of Science and Technology Lightnings. After the Sea Horses overcame an 81-all tie, Abugan's three-point play with 1:30 to go pushed PATTS in front. Two free throws from Ferreria with three seconds remaining kept PATTS out of trouble as time expired. - GMANews.TV
