Solon files reso honoring Fil-Jap golfer Yuka Saso for win in US Women's Open

A lawmaker has filed a resolution recognizing Filipina-Japanese golfer Yuka Saso for winning the United States Women's Open.

In filing House Resolution 1852, Senior Citizen party-list Representative Rodolfo Ordanes said Saso's historic win would finally put the Philippines in the world's golf arena and inspire more Filipinos to pursue golf.

“Saso’s win will be forever etched in our sports history as being the first Filipino to win a major golf tournament,” Ordanes, a golf enthusiast, said.

On Monday, Saso, 19, became the first Filipino to win a major championship, and tied the record for being the youngest US Women's Open titleholder.
