The Quezon City government, headed by Mayor Sonny Belmonte, on Tuesday lauded the Benedictine International School for bringing honors to the city by winning the title in the 62nd National Inter-Secondary Basketball Championship, which was held in Cebu City from February 26 to March 2. In a resolution introduced by Majority Floor Leader Ariel Enrile-Inton (Distirct 4) and unanimously approved by the city council, the Quezon City government congratulated the school for its success in the week-long championship participated in by the best high school teams all over the Philippines. "The success of the Capitol Hills-based Tigersharks under team manager Mr. Jose Bondoc and coach Rhuel 'Beaujing' Acot, is a big boost to the city's local basketball program," Inton, a well-known supporter of sports in the city, said. Inton also assured the coaching staff and the players of the city's full support when the team leaves to compete in an invitational tournament in Fujian, China, in the first week of April. The whole team, led by team captain Clark "Tata" Bautista, is expected to make a courtesy call to Mayor Belmonte, Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista, and the city council sometime this week. Aside from Acot, the other members of the coaching staff are Albert Olaya, Michael Pascasio, and James Nocellodo. The other members of the team are Eduardo Daquioag, Jeff Javillonar, Raymark Cabrera, Eric Alupani, Jedex Tanuan, Bobby Andaya, Eric Faner, Chester Dacanay, and Justine and David Vivo.
