Millennium Basketball League: CKP humbles ACSAT, 77-71
MANILA, Philippines - Multi-titled CKP 168 immediately went to work by humbling last year's runner-up Asian College of Science and Technology, 77-71, at the start of the 2008 Millennium Basketball League (MBL) open tournament at the Lyceum gym in Intramuros, Manila. A league statement on Thursday said that Jay-Ar Estrada, Beau Belga, Jeff Chan and Jason Castro led the offense of CKP in frustrating ACSAT. Estrada, Belga and Chan all scored 13 points, while Castro contributed 10 points for CKP, which is coached by Adonis Tierra and managed by Morty Fong. Sweet shooting guard Nico Pupos led ACSAT with 25 points including six 3-pointers. Harvey Igtos contributed 11 and Eric Suguitan added 10 points for the Ricky Alcantara-mentored Lightnings. BAP president Prospero "Butch" Pichay made the ceremonial toss during the short opening ceremony. He was assisted by BAP secretary-general Graham Lim and commissioner Boy Reglo.
