Alex Eala set to become first Filipina in world's Top 100
Alex Eala, 19 years old, is set to become the first Filipina tennis player to enter the top 100 of the world rankings.
According to an update on the Women's Tennis Association website, Eala is expected enter the top 100 of the rankings when it updates on Monday, March 31.
According to the WTA, "A player's ranking is determined by results at a maximum of 18 tournaments for singles and 12 for doubles. Points are awarded based on the level of tournament and a player's round-by-round progression at that tournament."

Some unofficial rankings project Eala to be at no. 75, but it will depend on the overall result of the Filipina's campaign in the tournament.
Eala, a wildcard entry, has defeated three Grand Slam champions en route to the Miami Open semis.
The Filipina player opened her dream run with a victory against Katie Volynets (WTA no. 43) in the Round of 128.
She then defeated 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko (WTA no. 25) in the Round of 64, then pulled off another upset against reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys (WTA no. 5) in the Round of 32.
A walkover after Paula Bedosa (WTA no. 11) withdrew due to injury allowed Eala to advance to the quarterfinals.
Eala then pulled off the biggest victory of her career as she took down world no. 2 and 5-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals.
The Filipina teen will face world no. 4 Jessica Pegula in the semis on Friday morning.
