Alex Eala at the 2025 Miami Open
Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala's dream run in the 2025 Miami Open has come to an end.
The Miami Open is part of the WTA1000 events of the WTA tour held in the Miami Gardens in Florida.
Eala, WTA ranked 140, has been defeating higher-ranked players, including Grand Slam champions, en route to the semis.

- Round of 128 | Eala def. Katie Volynets (USA), 6-3, 7-6(3)
- Volynets is ranked 43 by the WTA. She has reached the Round of 32 in the 2023 Australian Open.
- Round of 64 | Eala def. Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia), 7-6(2), 7-5
- Ranked 25th, Ostapenko won the 2017 French Open.
- Round of 32 | Eala def. Madison Keys (USA), 6-4, 6-2
- Keys is the reigning Australian Open champion and is ranked 5th by the WTA.
- Round of 16 | Eala advanced to the next round due to walkover
- Eala was supposed to play world no. 11 Paula Bedosa of Spain. However, the latter withdrew due to injury.
- Quarterfinals | Eala def. Iga Swiatek (Poland) | 6-2, 7-5
- Iga Swiatek, ranked no. 2 behind Aryna Sabalenka, is formerly the top-ranked player in the world. She has four French Open titles (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024) and one US Open title (2022).

- Jessica Pegula is the world no. 4 in women's tennis and has reached the finals of the 2024 US Open.
Eala has five titles under her belt in her singles career: W15 Manacor in 2021, W25 Chiang Rai in 2022, W25 Yecla and W25 Roehampton in 2023, and W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz in 2024.
She also has three doubles titles in 2024 alone: W50 Pune (with Darja Semenistaja), W75 Croissy-Beaubourg (with Estelle Cascino), and W100 Vitoria - Gasteiz (with Estelle Cascino).
Eala also has Grand Slam junior doubles titles, with the first one back in 2020 in the Australian Open with Priska Madelyn Nugroho, followed by a French Open title with Oksana Selekhmeteva.
