Pinay child of late Bobby Fischer soon to be a millionaire

MANILA, Philippines – Jinky Young, the seven-year-old daughter of the late chess icon Bobby Fischer and his Filipino girlfriend, will soon be a millionaire. This was announced on Wednesday by lawyer Sammy Estimo and Rudy Tacorda, counsel for Marilyn Young, the 29-year-old mother of Jinky. Young is set to receive her share of the Fischer estate – estimated to be at P140 million – not including gold deposits and royalty from the movie, Bobby Fischer Goes to War. Estimo said they got word from Reykjavik, Iceland, that the Probate Court had received the claim folder of Jinky Young. The deadline set by the Probate Court for claims to the estate of the deceased chess legend was May 17, 2008, or three months after Fischer died of kidney failure on January 17, 2008. Estimo said that Fischer told him and grandmaster Eugene Torre in 1984 that Fischer wanted to apply for Filipino citizenship after his American passport was canceled. Estimo added that Fischer wanted to live in the Philippines with Marilyn and Jinky. However, Fischer was advised not to pursue this plan because it was in the Philippines where his passport had been cancelled. But with the intercession of some friends from Iceland, Fischer was able to gain an Icelandic passport and flew out of Japan in March 2005. While in Japan, Fischer was married to a Japanese, but he continue to support Young and her mother, talking to them by phone and remitting monthly allowance. - GMANews.TV
