100 players to compete in Primovit chess
DAVAO CITY, Philippines - Close to 100 woodpushers are expected to show their wares when the 2008 Primovit and Gaisano South Citimall Rapid Age-Group Chess Championship unfolds on June 27 and 28 at the GS Citimall. Tournament director Ronnie Tabudlong said this during Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn. He was accompanied by Britton Distributions Inc. medical information associates Tyger Castaos and Hannah Mae Co during the regular sports conference. "The categories are open under-12, open under-14, open under-16 and open under-18. It will be a seven-round Swiss System format competition. The first four rounds will be played on the first day while the remaining rounds will be played on the final day," Tabudlong said. Tabudlong said interested players will just have to present a P170 worth of Primovit vitamins to be able register. Tbudlong said he can be reached at telephone number (082) 3004260 or mobile number (0929) 2407371 for registration and inquiries. "The champions in all categories will win a cash prize of P3,500 each while the runners-up will get P2,000 each," he said. "Aside from chess, we also sponsor a Futures Basketball League that will also be launched this month. We are pushing for Primovit's tall and smart factor with these two sports," Castaos said. "This is not just for promotion but we would like to be involved in the wholistic development of the children," she added. The Primovit chessfest in Davao City was launched last year. Castaos said they will hold more activities by the third quarter of this year. - Sun.Star
