Ligue 1: Gignac on target again as Marseille go top of Ligue 1

PARIS - A late goal from Andre-Pierre Gignac gave Olympique Marseille a 1-0 away win over Valenciennes on Saturday (early Sunday, PHL time), keeping their 100 percent winning start to the season and propelling them to the top of Ligue 1.

Last year's runners-up Marseille rode their luck in the second half after Valenciennes squandered two clear cut chances just before and after the Marseille goal.

Marseille top the table with nine points overtaking big-spending Monaco, who drew 0-0 on Friday (Saturday, PHL time) with Toulouse.
Olympique Lyon had a chance to draw level on points with Marseille, but lost 1-0 to Stade Reims in the late game.
