The Philippine national men’s football team, also known as the Azkals, have called on 22 booters to suit up for their away matches on April 11 and 14 in Qatar.

The Azkals will face Nepal in an official FIFA International Friendly next Friday, while they play Qatari-club Al Ahli SC the Sunday of the same week.

Here are the 22 called up by Azkals head coach Thomas Dooley, as revealed by the official Azkals website:

  • Eduard Sacapano (Philippine Army GTI FC)
  • Nicholas O'Donnell (Kaya FC)
  • Charles Pettys (Global FC)
  • Anton Del Rosario (Kaya FC)
  • Robert Gier (Ascot United)

With the exception of Rob Gier, Martin Steuble, and Juani Guirado who play for English club Ascot United FC, Swiss team FC Wil 1900, and Spanish side Club Deportivo Burgos respectively, the roster is composed of UFL regulars.

The team has adapted well to new head coach Thomas Dooley’s style of play, but they have yet to register a win under the American mentor yet.

Following their Qatar jaunt, the team will return to the Philippines and play Malaysia on April 27 in Cebu. - Roehl Niño Bautista, GMA News
